Albarino

White wine grape · reported 2009–2025

Further reading: VIVC catalog entry

Albarino is a Portuguese and Spanish white grape, Alvarinho across the border, with high acidity and stone-fruit and citrus character, grown in coastal, maritime climates. Since its own record begins in 2009, bearing acreage has grown from 407 acres five years before the present to 713 acres in the latest report, a roughly 75 percent increase, spread across 21 counties. It is grown mainly in the state's cooler coastal regions and bottled as a varietal white wine.

What is published

Counts describe what this atlas holds for Albarino, not what California grows. A zero is a published answer: it means the source names the grape and reports nothing under it, or does not name it at all.
