Editorial profile

La Jota Vineyard Co. was established in 1898 by Frederick Hess, a Swiss newspaperman who built the estate's stone winery from volcanic ash rock quarried on the property, on Howell Mountain land granted in 1843 as Rancho La Jota. Today it produces small-lot mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot from its Howell Mountain estate, including single-vineyard bottlings from the W.S.

Keyes Vineyard, alongside a limited "Restricted" tier of white wines - a Marsanne-Roussanne blend, a varietal Chenin Blanc, and a four-way proprietary white blend of Pinot Blanc, Albariño, Marsanne and Chenin Blanc. La Jota is part of the Jackson Family Wines portfolio; its historic vineyard and stone winery on Howell Mountain are not open to the public, with tastings held instead at the Jackson Family "Spire Collection" estates.

Wines

8 of 8 wines link to the page they were read from. The list is what a producer publishes about itself, one citation at a time — it is not a catalog, and a wine missing from it is uncurated rather than unmade.
