Mourvedre is a Spanish-origin red grape, also known as Monastrell, a key component of Rhone-style GSM blends alongside Grenache and Syrah. California's own record for the name begins only in 2017, the same year the older 'Mataro' name for the same grape stops appearing in CDFA's reports, and shows acreage easing slightly since, from 1,129 bearing acres five years before the present to 968 acres in the latest report, spread widely across 30 counties. It is tracked closely for ripeness, appearing in 46 years of maturity surveys across 213 regions, and is used both as a blending grape and a standalone varietal.

What is published
Counts describe what this atlas holds for Mourvedre, not what California grows. A zero is a published answer: it means the source names the grape and reports nothing under it, or does not name it at all.
