Marsanne is a French variety from the northern Rhone valley, traditionally paired with Roussanne. California's bearing acreage has more than doubled since 2000, from 48 to 116 acres in 2025, spread across 18 counties led by Sonoma, Napa, and Monterey. It is a full-bodied, low-acid white grape. In California it is typically blended with Roussanne and other Rhone varieties to make a rich white wine.
