Tocai Friulano, also labeled Sauvignonasse, a name TTB now requires alongside it since the EU restricted 'Tocai' for Hungarian Tokaji, is a northern Italian white grape used for crisp, mineral white wine. California's numbers show a small, declining planting: bearing acreage has fallen from 117 acres in 2000 to 54 acres in the latest report, spread across 8 counties. It remains a minor variety here, grown by a small number of producers drawn to its Friulian pedigree rather than any large-scale commercial demand for it.
