Symphony is a California original, bred at UC Davis by crossing Muscat of Alexandria with Grenache Gris to create an aromatic, cold-hardy white for the state's cooler regions. Its own numbers trace a rise and partial fall: bearing acreage grew from 566 acres in 2000 to a peak of 1,473 acres five years before the present, then eased back to 1,126 acres in the latest report, spread across 13 counties. It is grown mainly for fruity, floral, often slightly sweet white wine, carrying forward the Muscat aromatics of one of its two parent varieties.

What is published
Counts describe what this atlas holds for Symphony, not what California grows. A zero is a published answer: it means the source names the grape and reports nothing under it, or does not name it at all.
