Négrette is a red grape from southwestern France, best known as the main grape of Fronton, a light, floral red made near Toulouse. In California it has never built recorded bearing acreage — the atlas ledger shows no counted plantings at all — yet the state's crush-district price surveys have tracked it every year from 2000 through 2025, across eight districts, with tonnage crushed in a peak year running near 40 tons and reported prices as high as $6,500 a ton. That pattern points to small, scattered lots rather than a dedicated commercial planting. The grape is low in tannin and aromatic, usually bottled unblended as a soft, easy-drinking red.

What is published
Counts describe what this atlas holds for Negrette, not what California grows. A zero is a published answer: it means the source names the grape and reports nothing under it, or does not name it at all.
