Editorial profile

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars was established in 1970 with the purchase of the S.L.V. vineyard, in the Stags Leap District at the base of the Stags Leap Palisades. Its identity was set almost immediately: the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon placed first among red wines at the 1976 "Judgment of Paris," and Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate's two historic vineyards, S.L.V. and FAY (first planted to the variety in 1961), has anchored the winery ever since.

CASK 23 blends fruit from both sites; ARTEMIS draws on a wider set of Napa Valley vineyards. Small-lot Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, mostly from the estate's Oak Knoll District and southern Napa Valley sources, round out the portfolio. Head winemaker Marcus Notaro joined in 2013 after nearly two decades of prior Cabernet Sauvignon winemaking experience.

15 of 15 wines link to the page they were read from. The list is what a producer publishes about itself, one citation at a time — it is not a catalog, and a wine missing from it is uncurated rather than unmade.
