Editorial profile
Sequoia Grove Winery was founded in Rutherford in 1979 by James and Barbara Allen, who opened it in a century-old barn beneath a grove of sequoia trees. The estate now farms a 24-acre Sequoia Grove Estate Vineyard and a 50-acre Tonella Estate Vineyard in Rutherford, and is a Certified Napa Green Winery practicing minimal-intervention viticulture.
Cabernet Sauvignon anchors the range, from the Napa Valley-wide bottling up to Cambium, the flagship blend assembled each vintage from the estate's best lots, and single-vineyard wines from Tonella (Rutherford) and Lamoreaux (Oak Knoll District). A parallel single-vineyard Chardonnay program draws on Carneros fruit (Haire, Hyde) and Sonoma Coast fruit (Montaña Dorada), alongside an estate Sauvignon Blanc from Yountville.
