Editorial profile

Rochioli Vineyards and Winery farms the same Westside Road benchland above the Russian River its family has worked since 1934, when Joe Rochioli Jr.'s parents settled the property (then called Fenton Acres). Joe Jr. planted French Pinot Noir clones in 1968 — an early planting of the variety in Russian River Valley — followed by Chardonnay; Sauvignon Blanc, planted earlier in 1959 alongside a short-lived Cabernet Sauvignon planting, rounds out the three varietals the estate still makes today.

The site's own wine page splits each of the three into two tiers: Estate wines, a blend across the property's single-vineyard lots sold in the tasting room, and Single Vineyard wines, small, site-specific lots sold only to customers on "The List" (currently full). Rochioli's fruit went to other producers for decades before the family started its own label.
