Picpoul Blanc, or Piquepoul, is a high-acid southern French white grape from the Languedoc, traditionally used in Rhone-style blends and, in its home region, bottled on its own as Picpoul de Pinet. California's record for it is recent and growing: since first appearing in the data in 2010, bearing acreage has climbed from 52 acres five years before the present to 79 acres in the latest report, spread across 11 counties. It is grown here for the same high, briny acidity, and bottled as a crisp white.
