Muscadelle is a French variety, VIVC-recorded with one parent unidentified and the other Heunisch Weiss, the same ancient grape that parents numerous European varieties. It is the thinnest entry in this atlas: no crop years or district records at all, only a pair of technical reference sheets. It is traditionally a minor blending component in Bordeaux whites alongside Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. In California it is effectively untracked.

What is published
Counts describe what this atlas holds for Muscadelle, not what California grows. A zero is a published answer: it means the source names the grape and reports nothing under it, or does not name it at all.

Why it is here
No CDFA Grape Crush or Grape Acreage Report has named this grape in the 26 years this atlas covers, so every figure above is zero and none of them is a gap. It is here because California demonstrably bottles it: Ridge Historic Vines Blanc 2024 and 2025.

2 wines from 1 producer, each read from that producer’s own tech sheet and linked to it. No average is shown, and none should be computed from these. Wineries that publish tech sheets are selected by their own marketing departments, so a mean across them describes publishing habits rather than a grape.
