Quintessa is an estate winery on the eastern edge of Rutherford, Napa Valley, founded by Agustin and Valeria Huneeus more than three decades ago on a mosaic of hills and valleys bounded by the Vaca Mountains and the Napa River, farmed organically. Quintessa, the estate's single proprietary red blend, is presented by the winery as a pure expression of the property's varied soils and microclimates. Illumination, a limited-production white, is built around Sauvignon Blanc first planted at the estate in 2002, with old-vine Sémillon also part of the wine.
