Editorial profile

Mommenpop is a California citrus apéritif brand created by winemaker Samantha Sheehan, made in Napa with local, organic ingredients. It began as a small batch made by tossing hand-cut citrus — rind, seeds and all — into freshly-harvested Chardonnay, a "California twist on the classic aperitif," and grew from there. Current releases are described as Northern California wine fortified with Napa-made grape neutral spirit and infused with whole organic California citrus (blood orange, ruby grapefruit, Seville orange, kumquat) and botanicals, at roughly 17% ABV. The line runs several flavors, sold to be poured over ice or mixed into a spritz.

No wine rows are published for this producer. Mommenpop does not bottle a wine made from grapes in the sense this atlas catalogs — its products are flavored, fortified apéritifs that use wine as one ingredient among several, with no stated varietal composition, appellation or vintage for any release. This is the case the wave brief flagged in advance.
