Editorial profile
Maybach Family Vineyards is a small-lot Napa and Sonoma Coast producer, each wine named for and sourced from a single hillside vineyard and made by winemaker Thomas Brown. Its Cabernet Sauvignons come from three distinct sites — Materium from the Weitz Vineyard in the Oakville hills, Vocabulum from the Ecotone Vineyard near St. Helena, and Amoenus from a cooler Calistoga hillside site — each bottled at 100% varietal. On the Sonoma Coast, an estate vineyard near the Pacific produces Irmgard (Pinot Noir) and Eterium (Chardonnay), plus a rosé of Pinot Noir, Roseira. Production runs to a few hundred cases per wine.
