Editorial profile
Dominus Estate is a Napa Valley winery near Yountville, built around the historic Napanook vineyard on the west side of the valley at the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains — land first planted to vine in 1838 by George Yount and identified by Christian Moueix, who still guides the estate, in 1981. Dominus, the flagship, is described by the winery as a powerful, pure expression of the site, with polished tannins and structure meant to age. Napanook, the second wine, is bolder and more immediately drinkable, while Othello is grown on fine-grained silt and clay from early flows of the Napa River and made to be drunk earlier.
